Mitsubishi Carisma Camshaft Sensor Failure, Yellow light goes on, but engine keeps running.
If the sensor is cold, it will work till it get hot!
When you turn engine off, and cam sensor is still too hot, it will start for 4seconds before engine turns off with yellow light
The scope is connected with a clamp to gnd, and via a needle to the middle pin of the sensor.
Diagnose your car:
Connect Pin 1 of OBD to gnd, en watch sensor values blink.
Long blinks = 10
Short = 1.
example: 2 long, 3 short = 32
This video shows a working camshaft sensor, overheating. And the moment of failure is captured on the scope
Moment of failing:
Not working at all:
After 10min it cooled down, and worked for 1 second:
The code of the key is either stored in the IMMO or in the ECU. When the correct key is read by the keyring, the immo(or ecu itself) will tell ecu its ok to start.
Example when it is stored in ECU.
Example when it is stored in IMMO.
My ECU is the MD347228. It can be replaced without reprogramming and is NOT programmed with a specific IMMO. So my key code was stored in the IMMO.
When replacing IMMO (MR309663), the immo is programmed with the key,
If your IMMO is broken, but memory still intact, you can transfer memory into different IMMO
Clean the chip with acetone, is is really glued on.
Apply enough heat to desolder the chip, and transfer from other IMMO.
Already removed chip:
If you put your key and turn it into ignition mode. Leave it there, till the yellow light goes off.
If the yellow light stays off: key and immo says to ecu OK.
If the yellow light goes on immediately: immo says to ecu NOK
